Test Driving 101: Tips Inside! | Hollidaysburg, PA

Have you ever been on a test drive and felt like you didn’t really get the most out of your time behind the wheel? We get that and the team at Fiore Toyota is here to assist you with those things. This week we have a few tips to ensure that when you stop in to see our team for a test drive, you’ll get the most of that time behind the wheel. We hope that you’ll take some time to go over those tips and put them to good use this summer. Schedule your test drive online today and stop in when it’s convenient for you - we hope to see you soon! Understanding what the test drive is The #1 goal of a test drive is to see if the vehicle is a good fit for you and your family. While spending a lot of money on a new vehicle, it’s important to ensure that the vehicle you’re test driving is really the right one and worth the money you’re going to spend. Take your time with the vehicle, go over all of the features, and don’t be pressured into purchasing something you don’t love through and through. Listen to the experts While your opinion matters most, there is also a time and place to listen to the car experts when it comes to features like comfort, convenience, power, etc. Car reviews can be a great source of information and can offer great insight that you perhaps didn’t notice during your test drive. Drive the vehicle as if you own it One mistake many new car buyers make is not driving the vehicle on your daily commute. We encourage you to take advantage of this time by driving back roads, busy streets, or highways if they are typically in your daily commute. This will help you get a better feel for how the ride will be once you purchase the vehicle. Don’t let shiny features blind you Oftentimes, buyers are blinded by specific features or price points. Don’t let this be you. Take all of the features into consideration before making a final decision. It’s a great idea to make a list of features that you’re looking for in a vehicle and check them off as you go.

Safe Travels With Your Pet! | Hollidaysburg, PA

Summer vacation is here and if you’re planning to hit the road with family, friends, and your pet, it’s important to know a few things about keeping your pet safe and healthy before hitting the road. Don’t worry - we know this might be stressful but we’ve done the work for you. Below is a list of a few important tips to help keep your pets happy, healthy, and safe during the summer trips! For assistance on upgrading into a new vehicle behind hitting the road, contact our team today, or schedule an appointment online! We look forward to working with you - see you soon! Never leave your pet alone in the vehicle. Never. Ever. Repeat, never ever leave your pet alone in your vehicle. When traveling, plan your bathroom stops in dog-friendly places like pet stores. Make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip. Whether you just stopped in to have service or it’s been some time, make sure that everything seems to be in proper working order. The last thing you need is to be dealing with a breakdown or broken AC along the way. Start early in the day. While summer temperatures are high in the mornings too, it’s a great idea to start the day early while temperatures are at their lowest. Take your pet for a walk or a little exercise while the temperatures are still bearable. Freeze water. Freezing your water the night before offers cooler drinks the next day. While we recommend freezing two water bottles for you and your pet, we also recommend keeping a few bottles that are not frozen. And we recommend packing twice as much water as you think you’ll need - a good rule of thumb. Offer water often. Sometimes when traveling we forget to take a drink of water and if we’re forgetting, so is our pet. So it’s important to offer water often to ensure they are staying hydrated throughout the day. Also, grab a collapsible water bowl, they offer convenience and are easy to clean. Beware of the pavement. When temperatures are climbing, the asphalt temperature is hot as well. When you stop to hop out for a potty break or to stretch the legs, look for shady areas with grass. This will keep your pet from burning their paws. If you can’t find a grassy area, spread a towel on the ground to protect their paws while stretching or pour some water on the ground to cool it off. Watch out for signs of heat stress. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are very dangerous conditions that even our pets can suffer from. Look out for lethargy, vomiting, agitation, uncontrollable panting, foaming at the mouth, and tongue and gums that turn from red to blue to gray. And always consult your veterinarian before traveling with your pet.

Avoid Road Rage With These Tips From Fiore Toyota | Hollidaysburg, PA

Being a safe and smart driver is not always as easy as we think. Sometimes some jerk cuts us off or someone is driving way under the speed limit. While we know this is annoying and can create road rage - we want to help you stay calm behind the wheel so you can get to your destination on time and safely. This week, we have a few tips to help keep your road rage under control and keep you focused on what really matters - the road ahead! So, take a look and come see our team when you’re ready to upgrade into a brand new Toyota! Be aware of rising anger Often times, the most obvious signs of road rage are often physical. These can be anything from tone of voice, language, gestures, or muscle tension. When you catch yourself feeling this way before it worsens, it will prevent anger from turning into aggression/ road rage which will keep you safe and focused on the road ahead of you! Take time to calm down If you feel yourself feeling angry, pull over and take some time to calm down. Whether you choose to pull onto the shoulder or pull off and exit, when it is safe to do so, we recommend taking a few deep breaths, recollect your thoughts, and wait until you are once again ready to return to the road. Be defensive If you ever come across an aggravated driver, it’s a good idea to let that person pass and be on their way. Do not try to tailgate or block traffic, as this could only worsen their behavior and put yourself and other drivers in harm’s way. Don’t take your eyes off the road, keep your distance and be alert of any sudden changes that may occur. Resist retaliation If someone is driving slow or cuts you off, you may want to honk your horn, scream, or use profane gestures. Not only will this make you look silly but it will aggravate the other driver and can lead to potentially dangerous situations. Avoid these gestures, honking, flashing your high beams. Keep calm and drive on - that’s all!

How Drivers Can Share The Road Safely With Motorcyclists | Hollidaysburg, PA

Can you believe some of the weather we’ve been having lately? Nice sunny days that aren’t too hot! Days like this make everyone want to hit the road for a little adventure! And that means more traffic and unfortunately more threats to drivers road safety! Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users due to their lack of protection and visibility. As a driver, it's crucial to be aware of motorcyclists and take extra precautions to keep them safe. Here are some tips for drivers to keep motorcyclists safe on the roads: Check your blind spots: Before changing lanes or turning, always check your blind spots to ensure there are no motorcyclists in your path. Avoid distractions: Avoid using your phone, eating, or engaging in other distractions while driving, as they can cause you to miss important details, such as a motorcyclist approaching. Anticipate their movements: Motorcycles are more agile than cars and can change direction quickly. As a driver, be prepared for sudden movements and adjust your speed and position accordingly. Use your signals: Use your turn signals and brake lights to indicate your intentions to motorcyclists, allowing them to react and adjust their position on the road. Respect their right-of-way: Motorcyclists have the same rights on the road as all other vehicles, but less protection. Be sure to respect their right-of-way for their safety and yours.

Learn The Difference Between The Fuels For Your Ride! | Hollidaysburg, PA

Every vehicle on the road is designed differently and each one is designed to run at top performance with a specific type of fuel in its tank. If you’re truly unsure which type of fuel you should be filling up the tank with, give us a call or check your owner's manual for answers! But this week, we are going to help guide you through why the right fuel matters and the difference between those fuel types! What is the difference between fuel types? The first and most noticeable difference is the price! I mean, when you pull up and the “premium” fuel is more expensive, it’s pretty obvious of that first difference. Did you know that premium fuel tends to run about 20 cents higher than regular fuel? In addition to the price, premium fuel also comes with a higher octane level. Those numbers, commonly seen as 92 or 93 and 87, are to differentiate the octane levels of premium, being a higher number, to regular gas, the lower number. Octane is how much compression a fuel can withstand before igniting - a higher octane gas will not pre-ignite or explode as quickly as lower octane levels. The right fuel matters, but why? Many drivers are tempted to fill up their vehicle with a lower grade of octane in order to save money. But in the long run, it could damage your vehicle and your vehicle will not perform as it is intended if it is required to use higher octane levels. The problem? These lower octane levels allow combustion to happen too fast in your engine which can lead to issues. Issues like your engine could make knocking noises, reducing your car’s power and fuel economy, and potentially cause engine damage. Let’s reverse the roles, using higher octane fuel when you usually use regular won’t create any drastic changes. But if you use regular gas and switch to premium gas, you won’t notice any extra benefits. So, in my opinion, save your money and fill up with the octane level your vehicle is asking for.
