A Message From Your Tires

Hey!! Hey, you! DOWN HERE! Yes, you. No, you’re not hallucinating. Yes, you are talking to the tires on your Toyota Highlander, and that does not make you crazy. Well, maybe a little bit. Now that we’ve sorted out the formalities, I think we need to have a talk. I’ve just been feeling a bit low lately, and I don’t know about you, but when I’m this low it really wears me down. Literally, though, my treads are really taking a beating down here. With that in mind, I feel like we need to go over some ground rules, mostly because the ground is literally the only interaction I have to this beautiful outside world. So I’m going to go over some of my requests to make our driving experience better for the both of us.

Not to make everything about me, but, I’m pretty important to the whole “mobility” thing with your Highlander. Your vehicle might have all the gadgets and gizmos that make driving magical, but it could get exactly zero places without me. SO, checking in on me periodically would be just great. Now, I have no unrealistic expectations that I will live forever. I mean, when my time comes, I will roll happily to the junkyard knowing that we drove our hearts out while I was in my prime. But my time is not now, so let’s try to keep me at my prime so I last a while at least.

The first order of business is, as I mentioned before, I’ve been feeling a bit low lately. You know, in the air department. The weather has been warming up a lot and honestly, it’s just taken the wind right out of me. To help keep me a bit more regular, it would be super helpful if you could check in on me once in awhile, perhaps monthly, to see how I’m doing. Letting my tire pressure stay low can really be costly. When I’m low, I tend to be more resistant to rolling. To be fair, who wants to rock and roll when you’re feeling low?? Basically, it means that the engine has to pick up my slack and put in more effort to move your vehicle. So Let’s try to avoid this awkward situation by keeping up on my tire pressure. Next time we’ll have to have a chat about your lead foot, but for now, let’s focus on keeping track of my tire pressure. If you ever feel like there has been lasting damage, or if you have any questions about how to keep me in better health you can definitely stop by Fiore Toyota, located at 1000 Logan Boulevard Hollidaysburg, PA 1664, and they can help you out. In the meantime, here is a quick little guide on how you can check my pressure to extend my life, and the quality of our driving.

  1. To check my tire pressure follow these steps:
  2. Remove the end caps on your tires’ air valves (don’t lose them! I need those!).
  3. Place the tire pressure gauge into the valve stem and press down quickly to get a reading.
  4. Check the PSI reading. Compare that to your vehicle’s recommended PSI.
  5. It can often be tricky to get the gauge to press fully onto the valve, resulting in an off reading—so take a few readings just in case.
  6. If the reading is above the recommendation, push in the valve to let out some air (you might have to do this a few times to get it right).
  7. If the PSI reading is below the recommendation, fill your tire with air until you reach the ideal level (this may also take a few tries).

A Letter From Your Local Crash Test Dummy

Dear World,
Hi, my name is Jim. I’m a crash test dummy with Toyota and LET ME TELL YOU, my job is not an easy one. The whole purpose of my job is to ensure that people like you stay safe. Some might say we are the unsung heroes of safety. Ok, I might have been the one who said that, but like, do you think you guys could get that started? Anyway, the real reason I’m talking with you all today is because I fear that my job is at risk.

I don’t know if you’ve been in a Toyota car recently, but the safety features in those things are ridiculous. With the latest safety features for Toyota, like the Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert and Automatic High Beams, I can smell downsizing a mile away. When I’m out there in the field we don’t even crash anymore. It’s like the car can stop itself so we aren’t needed. Switching lanes, nothing, not even a ding. I haven’t needed to go in for a repair in almost a year. I can read the signs, less crashing means less need for dummies like me. I mean I’m a crash test dummy, but I’m not a dummy. There’s not a lot of work out there for guys like me! I have three tiny crash test babies at home that need feeding and I can’t go back to working as a mannequin, the 90s really did a number on me. For more information, you can see this video below where Toyota basically announces that we, the crash test dummies, are obsolete. As crash test dummies, we deserve work too. If Toyota keeps making these vehicles so safe, we’ll all be out of work. Do you really want the livelihoods of so many dummies to be gone? Could you live with yourself?

One test drive, and you’ll see that our fate is pretty much sealed. So we beg you, ask Toyota to make their cars just a LITTLE less safe. Like, maybe a bump here and there for good measure. We’re counting on you.

P.S. Really though, if you could spread the thing about us being “unsung heroes of safety”, that’d be awesome.

Thanks!

All the best,
Jim your Toyota Crash Test Dummy

Rumor has it that Toyota is bringing back the beloved Supra. Based on recent spy shots, the performance car looks like it’s going to be a real treat to drive. It appears to offer large front air intakes, aggressive headlight design, tapered design, and sleek curves. There’s no word yet on what we’ll find under the hood, but rumor has it that there could be a twin-turbocharged V6 developed in Japan. There’s also the possibility of a hybrid edition.

No date has been set for the release, but a guess would have it somewhere near late 2017 or early 2018. Keep checking our blog for more information on the upcoming Supra from Toyota, and until more details are released, check out our current inventory here at Fiore Toyota.

Toyota Motor Corporation has brought the eighth generation of the best-selling car in America, the Toyota Camry, to the Chicago Auto Show and have proved that there truly are things that get better with age. The 2018 Toyota Camry has evolved from the sensible vehicle that’s loved by everyone to a vehicle that will evoke an emotional response from drivers.

Chicago Auto Show attendees were also treated to an indoor driving experience from Toyota with a theme of ‘The Story of Go’ which provides a look at the new safety technology through real-world driving experiences. These unique demonstrations used the 2017 RAV4 and Highlander in both their gasoline and hybrid versions.

Of course, those interested in the 2017 Highlander or RAV4 can come into Fiore Toyota for a test drive in either (or both) models at any time! “By engaging multiple local partners on a single issue, we can build on ideas, pool resources and achieve greater impact in the communities we serve,” said Mike Goss, general manager, Toyota Social Innovation. “The initiative is part of larger community programing aimed at creating public-private partnerships to solve societal issues.”

This is the idea behind a new grant from Toyota and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. The grant is aimed at meeting the challenges of mobility head on with help from non-profits and organizations in north Texas. Toyota hopes that through collaboration and partnership amongst local non-profits, academic institutions, and social entrepreneurs one or more solutions can be found for transportation mobility issues and social mobility issues.

The grant, which provides funds to implement a two-year program in the area, also challenges those involved to think about the scalability of their programs. Following the first year of the grant, the awardees will have the opportunity to partner with Toyota to further improve outcomes.

“We believe that new technologies and approaches can increase access to mobility for underserved communities, low income including seniors and people with disabilities, and that access to reliable, safe, affordable transport systems has direct social, equality and economic implications,” said Karen Ideno, vice president of product, marketing, corporate social responsibility and communications, Toyota Financial Services. “By tapping into organizations on the ground through a collaborative approach to innovation, we can foster real change and improve quality of life in our communities.”

The history of the Toyota sports car is long and influential one. Since the 1960s, Toyota has surprised and intrigued people with its iconic sports cars. In this post, we’re taking a quick look at the engaging and exciting history.

We start off our journey with the Toyota Sports 800. Debuting in 1962 at the Tokyo Motor Show the “Toyota 8” shaped Toyota’s vision for years. You might recognize the second car in our look back if you are a fan of Bond, James Bond. The 1967 Toyota 2000GT was featured in You Only Live Twice and can be recognized by its pop-up headlamps and distinctive curves.

Combining a practical interior, sporty style, and affordable price tag the Toyota Celica was an immediate hit. It had a successful 35 year run among casual drivers and enthusiasts alike. Spring boarding off the Celica was the Supra in 1978. Arguably Toyota’s most famous sports car, the Supra featured those famous 2000GT pop-up headlights, flared wheel arches, and a powerful engine.

Next up is a car we are all familiar with; the Corolla. A humble beginning would beget the world’s best-selling vehicle that driver’s loved, and continue to love today. Over the years, the Corolla has seen many variations and spin offs like the AE86 Levin and the GTi. The MR2 became a blend of a fuel-efficient Sports 800 and the sporty Celica and Supra. An agile body, responsive engine, and optional T-bar roof created a look and feel that the 1980’s became known for when it came to driving.

In 2011, the GT86 burst onto the scene much to the delight of Toyota sports car fans. Following a dry spell of sports car from Toyota, the GT86 filled a void that the Supra and Celica left when they were retired. With a high-revving rear-located engine driving the rear wheels, a low center of gravity and a lightweight body, the GT86 offered drivers great handling and electrifying reactions.

If history is any indication, then the future of Toyota sports cars look exceptionally bright. In 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show, Toyota unveiled the stunning FT-1 concept which “represents the ultimate expression of Toyota design by building on our sports car heritage to create a vision of what the future may hold.”
