Toyota is combining its relationships with Amy Purdy and Daytona International Speedway by making Purdy the official Toyota Camry pace car driver for the 2015 Daytona 500, which airs this Sunday. This will now be the second year that the Toyota Camry has served as the pace car for the “The Great American Race”. Toyota has a long term partnership with the Daytona International Speedway that was formed when the two signed an 11 year contract making Toyota the Speedway’s first founding partner for the development of their “Daytona Rising” project.

Additionally, Purdy has been a spokesperson for Toyota for some time now and most recently starred in “How Great I am”, one of the brand’s two Super Bowl Commercials. Purdy is all about living life without limits, a motto that she has developed following the amputations of both legs below the knee due to a meningitis infection when she was only 19.  Purdy has gone on to be a Paralympic medalist in Snowboarding and was the first runner up on a recent season of Dancing with The Stars, where she captures worldwide attention for being the first double amputee competitor.

“Another exciting moment in my relationship with Toyota,” said Purdy. “As a race fan, I’m thrilled to be invited to be the Honorary Pace Car driver at the biggest race of the NASCAR season – the Daytona 500. This is another opportunity to try something new and be bold in my own life. I can’t wait to visit my fellow Toyota athletes and step into their world by getting behind the wheel of the Camry pace car.”
