An impressive production milestone will soon be set by the Toyota Mississippi Manufacturing Plant when the 500,000th produced Toyota Corolla officially rolls off of the assembly line. When this vehicle is officially completed it will mean that this milestone has been reached in only four years since this plant has only been open since 2011. This officially makes this the fastest that this goal was achieved compared with any other Toyota plant in the U.S. This is truly a tribute to the hard work and dedication of each of the over 2,000 employees of this plant, in fact, last year alone Toyota Mississippi produced 180,00 Corollas.

“The 500,000th Corolla vehicle is a milestone we’re excited to be celebrating,” said Fred Volf, Toyota Mississippi, vice president of manufacturing. “We are proud to produce the Corolla, and it wouldn’t have been accomplished without the 2,000 dedicated team members who support this operation.”

In addition to being incredibly dedicated to production, the team at Toyota Mississippi is also incredibly dedicated to its local community. In the four year since it first opened its doors, the Plant has contributed to the local area through philanthropic and sustainability efforts and job creation.

Toyota is combining its relationships with Amy Purdy and Daytona International Speedway by making Purdy the official Toyota Camry pace car driver for the 2015 Daytona 500, which airs this Sunday. This will now be the second year that the Toyota Camry has served as the pace car for the “The Great American Race”. Toyota has a long term partnership with the Daytona International Speedway that was formed when the two signed an 11 year contract making Toyota the Speedway’s first founding partner for the development of their “Daytona Rising” project.

Additionally, Purdy has been a spokesperson for Toyota for some time now and most recently starred in “How Great I am”, one of the brand’s two Super Bowl Commercials. Purdy is all about living life without limits, a motto that she has developed following the amputations of both legs below the knee due to a meningitis infection when she was only 19.  Purdy has gone on to be a Paralympic medalist in Snowboarding and was the first runner up on a recent season of Dancing with The Stars, where she captures worldwide attention for being the first double amputee competitor.

“Another exciting moment in my relationship with Toyota,” said Purdy. “As a race fan, I’m thrilled to be invited to be the Honorary Pace Car driver at the biggest race of the NASCAR season – the Daytona 500. This is another opportunity to try something new and be bold in my own life. I can’t wait to visit my fellow Toyota athletes and step into their world by getting behind the wheel of the Camry pace car.”
