Toyota has just released a short video titled “The Science Behind ‘Fueled By Oil Creek’”. It’s a short video describing the process behind the hydrogen gas fueling the recently unveiled Toyota Mirai. The Mirai is powered by hydrogen gas gathered from water through the process of electrolysis. Through the use of electricity and with the help of a catalyst the water molecules are broken up into their components of hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is let off and hydrogen is kept for fuel. In the Mirai, the process is reversed. The hydrogen is put in and combined with free flowing oxygen to create electricity, with the only by-product being water. Watch the video and hear it directly from the people at Toyota.
