Toyota’s July sales were released this week, and they are continuing their upward trend.  With sales of 188,469 units, they saw a 10.6 percent increase from July 2013

“Rising consumer confidence, coupled with momentum in the marketplace, boosted auto sales in July,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. “Led by an all-time record month for RAV4 and double-digit gains for both Camry and Corolla, Toyota was the number one retail brand.”

Other sales highlights for the month of July include:

  • Sales of the all-new Tundra increased by 5 percent

  • Sales of the Camry totaled almost 40,000 units, a 15 percent increase

  • Sales of the 4Runner increased by 64.5 percent

  • Sales of the Tacoma totaled 13,000 units

  • Sales of the all-new Highlander increased by 4 percent

  • Sales of the all-new Corolla increased 26 percent with sales of almost 31,000 units

  • Prius sales totaled  20,675 units

  • Sales of Toyota light trucks show a record-breaking July, up over 15 percent

  • Sales of the all-new RAV4 increased by over 37 percent for a record July

The Toyota GT86 is having no problem living up to its “fun to drive” reputation, and has become even more exciting after German Drifter Harald Muller was able to drift the car for 2 hours and 25 minutes for a distance of 89.55 miles.

Muller now holds the world record for drifting that was held by the BMW M5, which traveled for 51 miles in South Carolina last year. This year’s record attempt (and success) took place in Samsun, Turkey where 612 laps were completed by Muller on a watered circuit of slippery tarmac. There is some debate among sport enthusiasts if the wet track allows some sort of advantage, however Guinness World Records saw no issue.
