Why Your Tire’s PSI Is So Important:
- Proper PSI will help optimize performance and your vehicle’s fuel efficiency. This is especially useful if you tend to run your A/C or heat for long periods of time and increasing gas prices).
- Avoid sidewall flexing and tire squirm when properly inflated.
- Avoid potential dangers like collisions, blowouts, heat build-up, and potential rolling hazards.
- Correct PSI improves durability and performance designed to match the specific needs of your vehicle.
- PSI stabilizes the tire’s structure, blends responsiveness, traction, and handling.
- Extreme temperatures and driving conditions will affect your tire’s PSI.
- Underinflated tires can wear prematurely due to being soft and unable to maintain their proper shape.

If you choose to check the oil yourself, check out the owner’s manual or leave it to a professional which we recommend if you’re new under the hood.
Radiator Fluid
- We hope you know that radiator fluid goes, well, in the radiator. But, it also keeps your engine from overheating, which is VERY important. If you ever notice your engine running a little hot, you might be running low on this fluid and it’s time to check it. If you ignore this, you’ll end up with a hefty repair bill. We recommend leaving this fix o the professionals for safety reasons.
Power Steering Fluid
- Much like your vehicle’s engine, your power steering system has to be lubricated at all times for best results and control when it comes to steering and wheels. If you don’t have proper fluid levels, you will lose control and that is not good. This is one of the easiest fluids to fill, so if you’re low or totally out (which we hope you’re not), take out your owner’s manual and DIY!
Brake Fluid
- Your brake fluid has the important job of bringing your vehicle to a complete stop when you’re ready. If you run low or out of this fluid, you run the risk of not being able to stop and that can cause some problems. Check out your vehicle’s owner manual for directions on how to add or change brake fluid in your vehicle and be sure to take a look at the color, too. If it’s dark – have a mechanic replace ASAP!

- Swap out regular tires for winter tires. Snow or not, when temperatures fall below 45 degrees, winter tires are recommended. They’re made to give you better traction while turning or stopping on cold pavement.
- Check your tire pressure weekly. Driving on underinflated tires can cause them to wear down prematurely and lose traction on icy or slippery surfaces. Your tires lose a pound of pressure with every 10-degree drop in temperature.
- Always keep your fuel tank half full. During winter weather, it’s important to keep at least half a tank of fuel in the vehicle in the event of an emergency or if you get stuck in the snow and wait for assistance.
- Pack an emergency to-go kit. We encourage you to keep an extra coat, blanket, boots, gloves, and a hat inside your vehicle when the temperatures drop. We also recommend keeping a flashlight, first aid kit, and emergency contact information or AAA handy.
- Protect your windshield wipers. If you park outdoors, leave the wipers in the raised position to prevent them from freezing to the windshield. Never use your wiper blades to remove ice, snow, or frost from the windshield; use an ice scraper instead.
