Like they say go big, or go home! Introducing the Toyota “Tundrasine” Concept which some are calling the “Cowboy Cadillac”. This stretched out pickup truck will be featured at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association, or SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week.

This vehicle was born as a Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition 4×4 CrewMax 5.7L V8 pickup, and grew up to be a full-size larger-than-life size limousine/truck hybrid concept. The Tundrasine is measuring over 36-feet in length and has a wheelbase of 235.9 inches. The interior cockpit and passenger compartments replicate luxury private jets, with a rich brown leather look. The exterior has been painted Midnight Black Metallic, and has eight functional doors.

This showstopper was assembled at the company’s facility located in San Antonio, TX. “They say everything’s bigger in Texas,” Steve Appelbaum, National Engagement Marketing Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A said, “and the Tundrasine really drives that point home, or anywhere you want to go.”

The team at Fiore Toyota thought that this vehicle was pretty impressive and we enjoy sharing such innovative concepts with our loyal customers near and far.

First let’s introduce you to the PCS or Pre-Collision System, Toyota’s Safety Sense C – available on select 2016 models. If this advanced alert system determines that another vehicle is too close to the front of the vehicle and could possibly cause a collision, the alert system will prompt the driver to apply the brakes by using an audio and visual alert. The PCS uses an in-vehicle camera, as well as a laser radar to avoid any collision. This system is fully enabled at 10 MPH and up to 87 MPH. If the driver does not brake in time, the Brake Assist System may automatically apply the brakes for you by bringing the vehicle to a complete stop, which will then retain the vehicle at a full stop for 2 full seconds.

The other safety sensor that has been added to the 2016 select Toyota models is the Safety Sense P, (PD) or Pedestrian Detection sensor. This sensor is engaged at 7MPH with speeds up to 50MPH. The Pedestrian Detection protection function will sense a pedestrian by using an audio and visual alert prompted by a millimeter wave radar that measures distance and in-vehicle camera. The PD Utilizes the Brake Assist System in the same manner as the PCS sensor as mentioned above.

Last Wednesday, Back to the Future fans everywhere celebrated the 30th anniversary of the highly-popular trilogy on October 21, 2015, which was the exact day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled to in the second film. The Toyota brand teamed up with the film’s producers and stars Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox in order to honor the historic anniversary of this film. For starters, the two joined forces to create a special tribute film that also helped to launch the all-new Toyota Mirai. In addition to that, Toyota decided to recreate Marty’s dream truck from the series.

This dream truck first makes its appearance in the original film in the series as Marty says that his dream is to own it some day. For the anniversary, the brand took a 2016 Toyota Tundra and re-created it to be an exact replica of Marty’s truck from the films.

Of course since it is thirty years later the brand had to add several custom modification in order for it to look exactly as it did in the film. These customizations included Custom “D-4S” Fuel Injection Badging, Custom 1985 Toyota Truck Exterior Paint, KC HiLites Daylighter Gravity LED, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Wheels, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Wheels, Custom Vintage Headlight and Taillight Design, Custom front and rear Tubular Bumpers, KC HiLites Gravity LED G46, Custom Light Bar, Mud Flaps 1985 Toyota Truck, Off-road Suspension, and BFGoodrich Tires.

This past Wednesday marked a very special day for all Back to the Future fans. For anyone who is familiar with the famous franchise, you know that October 21, 2015 was the exact date that Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled to when they went thirty years into the future in Part II of the trilogy. In honor of the anniversary, Toyota teamed up with the film’s stars Christopher Lloyd and Michael J Fox in order to create a special tribute film that also celebrated the official launch of the new Toyota Mirai.

In the film, we see Lloyd and Fox discussing some of the technological advancements that were introduced in the film and compare them to what we actually do have available now. Then, they are joined by a young inventor who explains them the intricacies of the new Toyota Mirai and how it is powered by Hydrogen Fuel-Cell technology, the zero-emissions technology of the future that can create fuel out of anything, including garbage.

In an effort to help curb unsafe driving habits in young people, Toyota is turning to those they listen to the most, their peers. The Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge and The Toyota Driving Coach are the two latest initiatives headed by the automaker.

“We know that teens rank their own peers as one of the leading influencers on their behavioral choices. With that in mind, Discovery Education is proud to partner with Toyota on this unique initiative that empowers teens to use their digital storytelling skills to inspire their peers,” said Lori McFarling, Senior Vice President at Discovery Education. “To keep teens safe on the road, it’s critical that we reach them in the classroom – where they spend the majority of their time – by providing needed digital resources that emphasize the importance of making smart choices behind the wheel.”

The Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge teams up with Discovery Education and prompts high school students all across the US to create short videos that aim to inspire their friends and family members to practice safe driving habits and to avoid distractions while behind the wheel. There is a $15,000 grand prize and an opportunity to work with a Discovery film crew to recreate their video as a TV-ready PSA. Visit www.TeenDrive365inschool.com for more information.

DoSomething.org will help empower teens with knowledge about distracted driving and will create an opportunity for conversation among teens and parents with the  Toyota Driving Coach program.
